Skaters from all over South Africa will be participating at this event, in an attempt to qualify for International selection.

This promises to be a bumper event with entries streaming in from all skating regions and we have an entry of 112  skaters participating

The competition comprises of solo skating, which is one skater performing required elements on their own including jumps and spins to music on the ice, and also synchronized skating where a team of 12-16 skaters perform together in unison on the ice to music, performing a variety of lifts, circles, lines, wheels with intricate footwork at the same time.

Judges from all over South Africa will be officiating at this event, and there is an International Selection meeting scheduled after, where these skaters will be assessed for International participation and 2020

World Figure and Synchronized Skating Championships.

The skaters/Teams are marked on a computerised marking system with instant play back facilities, and the judges make use of this to give the skater the best possible result when assessing their performance.

Western Province is the largest skating Province and plan to enter 65 of our solo skaters as well as 3 synchronized skating teams, and hope to retain the Inter Provincial title held for the past 21 years.

Skaters entering this event range from the very young under 10 yrs to senior ladies and men where the average age is 22 years as well as adult sections, where they are over 25.

Ice Skating today opens many doors with many of our previous champions earning their living by performing overseas with professional ice shows such as Disney on Ice , Holiday on Ice and the Russian Imperial Ice Stars, all of which have visited our shores.

Please support our skaters and attend this event.
