LEARN TO SKATE
Western Province currently has 3 learn to skate clubs. Junior blades, which operates on a Saturday morning and Black Panthers who run on a Sunday morning. Both of these clubs adopt a similar syllabus and the vast majority of our competitive skaters have come through these clubs. Here a skater will progress through a series of grades which will be assessed by coaches and judges (in the higher grades). In addition, we have the Sunday Nite Club that runs on a …Sunday night. This is a social club for skaters of all levels and ages.
If you are a beginner, this is the place to start!
These clubs are affiliated to SAFSA but operate as separate entities with their own constitutions and committees.
JUNIOR BLADES
We run group lessons at different levels every Saturday morning from 09h00 to 11h30. Lessons are open to children from the ages of 3 to 18 years. Lessons are given by The Ice Station’s professional coaches in combination with our Level 1 accredited JB coaches who are also senior WP and SA skaters.
Intake for new members takes place on the last Saturday of every month (except June, November & December) A meeting for prospective new members is held at 09:00 upstairs in the Function Room. Please proceed to the Junior Blades Ice Skating Club website to complete the online application form.

SUNDAY NITE CLUB
Sunday Nite Club – Sundays from 18h00 – 20h00
The Sunday Nite Club meets every Sunday night except for Easter weekend, June school holidays and the December school holidays which obviously includes the festive season.
Our mission is to teach anybody to skate such that the sport can be enjoyed confidently by all without the fear of falling.
We are a social club and encourage the whole family to learn to skate. We have a number of coaches which means there is always someone to coach from beginners to the more advanced skaters. We offer group and individual coaching particularly for beginners to get you started and ready to join the group. The emphasis however, is on having fun and enjoying the company of a group of very sociable and helpful people who all share the same passion for skating.
Going forward the Sunday Nite Club’s intension is to create an adult [18yrs and older] synchro ice skating team which requires a minimum of twelve people, if you are interested, please come and see us.
It’s a marvelous way to end the weekend and having accomplished something extraordinary, will see you through the week.
You will find us at the back of the rink on the left from 18h00 on Sunday evenings where you can get all the information you need related to the club. You don’t have to sign on the first night – try us out and see if we suit your purpose, if we do – become a member and join the Sunday Nite Club family.
