Dress Code Policy | WP Figure Skating

PURPOSE

This policy establishes the official dress code for SAFSA WP figure skaters representing their province at home and away competitions. This dress code ensures a professional and unified appearance, promotes team spirit and upholds the standards of SAFSA WP.

Remember when wearing provincial colours it is more than putting on a jacket or a uniform – it is a symbol of dedication, perseverance, and unity. It represents the countless hours of training, the sacrifices made and the support of coaches, teammates and family. When we step onto the ice in our provincial colours, we carry not only our own dreams but also the pride of those who believe in us. It is a reminder that we are a part of something bigger – a tradition of excellence and sportsmanship. No matter the outcome, wearing these colours means skating with heart, integrity and the determination to always give our best. Wear your colours with pride!

GENERAL DRESS CODE GUIDELINES

All skaters must wear SAFSA WP branded team attire when representing the province at competitions
All attire must be neat, clean and in good condition
Skaters are responsible for ensuring that their attire complies with the guidelines before each competition
Hair is to be neat and tidy
It is the skater's responsibility to ensure that he/she reads and understands the dress code
If you do not have WP colours please follow these dress code rules bearing in mind that NO clothing, practice outfits and/or kit may have the WP insignia on it

TO AND FROM THE RINK

Full WP tracksuit
White t-shirt (no coloured or branded/advertising t-shirts)
Top to be zipped

UNOFFICIAL PRACTICE

Any suitable training clothes

OFFICIAL PRACTICE

Single and pair skaters, ice and solo dancers:

WP warm up top (no tracksuit tops)
WP blue sleeveless body warmer
WP racer back top
Black leggings or black skirt (for dancers)
WP dress – longer skirt length for ice and solo dancers is available
Boys WP t-shirt with black pants
Competition attire

SENIORS (Competing at Junior and Senior Level) Single and pair skaters, ice and solo dancers:

As above but have the option of including
WP black dress – longer skirt length for ice and solo dancers is available
White sleeveless body warmer

Synchro Teams:

WP or official team warm up top
Official team t-shirt or top
Black leggings and/or pants
Competition attire

PARADE AND PRESENTATIONS

Competition attire
WP warm up top
WP tracksuit top

Please show absolute respect to your fellow skaters and the organising committee during the awards ceremony. We ask you to stand still in one spot and do not talk for the duration of the presentations, nor skate around.

ON THE FLIGHT

The choice is up to the skater, your highest colours or the WP tracksuit

WP tracksuit
White t-shirt (no coloured t-shirts)

If you have WP or SAFSA colours:

WP or SAFSA blazer
Black pants and/or a black skirt
White shirt and/or top
Smart black shoes (no takkies)
For males: WP or SAFSA tie

If you have Protea colours:

Beige pants
White shirt and/or top
Veldskoen, heels or smart black shoes
For boys/men: Protea tie

ON RETURN FLIGHT HOME

The athlete has the option to fly home in the official attire or their casual clothing.

AT THE DRAW

If you have WP or SAFSA colours:

WP or SAFSA blazer
Black pants and/or a black skirt
White shirt and/or top
Smart black shoes (no takkies)
For males: WP or SAFSA tie

If you have Protea colours:

Beige pants
White shirt and/or top
Veldskoen or heels or smart black shoes
For males: Protea tie

COMPETITION, TEAM EVENTS, OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES/PARADE

When attending official events, opening and/or closing ceremonies or media appearances, all skaters must wear the official SAFSA WP team outfit.

NON-COMPLIANCE

Failure to adhere to the dress code may result in:

A verbal warning from the Team Leader
Possible exclusion from the competition
Further disciplinary action as deemed necessary by the SAFSA WP Committee

AMENDMENTS AND EXCEPTIONS

Any exceptions due to medical or religious reasons must be approved, in advance, by the SAFSA WP Committee.

Please remember, when wearing your provincial tracksuit or any other official attire, you are a representative of Western Province and your behaviour should reflect this.

By following this policy, SAFSA WP skaters ensure a professional and unified team image while representing the province with pride.

This policy may be reviewed, amended and/or updated by the SAFSA WP Committee to align with the SAFSA National regulations and requirements.
