1. PURPOSE

In the interest of fairness, integrity and the promotion of unbiased judging within SAFSA WP community, this gentleman's agreement establishes the following mutual understanding between all judges, trial judges and officials within Western Province Figure Skating:

2. Pre-Competition Non Engagement Period

No judge shall evaluate, critique or provide feedback on any skater or performance for a period of 14 days prior to any sanctioned competition, event or simulation at which they are scheduled to officiate to preserve the objectivity and impartiality of the judging panel during the actual competition.

This agreement fosters a level playing field by ensuring no competitor receives preferential feedback or guidance from the potential judging panel in the lead-up to the competition or event.

3. Scope of Restriction

This restriction applies to:

• Simulation
• Private lessons
• Video reviews
• Live or recorded run through's
• Informal critiques in person, via digital communication or through social media platforms

4. Purpose and Intent

This agreement aims to:

• ensure impartiality and fairness in judging
• avoid any real or perceived bias
• uphold the integrity and credibility of competitions under SAFSA

5. Voluntary Compliance

This is a gentleman's agreement, relying on ethical conduct and mutual respect, trust and shared values of sportsmanship and professional courtesy. While not legally binding, all parties are expected to honour the spirit and letter of this understanding in good faith.
