SAFSA WP

1. INTRODUCTION

The Team Captain plays a vital leadership role within SAFSA WP, serving as a liaison between skaters, coaches and management. This policy outlines the responsibilities, expectations and selection criteria for the SAFSA WP Team Captain.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION

• The Team Captain must be an active competitive member of SAFSA WP and in good standing
• The Captain should demonstrate leadership qualities, sportsmanship and commitment to the team
• Coaches to put forward their nominations in advance
• The final selection process will be conducted by the SAFSA WP Committee
• The Captain will be appointed for each competition, with the possibility of re-appointment

3. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leadership and representation at competitions and official events
• Act as a role model by maintaining a positive attitude, strong work ethic and sportsmanlike conduct
• Serve as a link between skaters, coaches and SAFSA WP management
• Relay important information regarding schedules, competitions and competition matters to team members
• Encourage and motivate team members during training and competitions
• Foster a sense of teamwork, inclusion and sportsmanship within the team
• Uphold the rules and values of SAFSA WP, ensuring that all skaters adhere to the code of conduct policies
• Address any minor conflicts within the team and escalate serious matters to the Team Leader
• Assist in organizing team-building activities and club events
• Work with coaches to support new or younger skaters

4. REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT

• A Team Captain may be removed if they fail to uphold their duties, engage in misconduct or violate SAFSA WP policies
• The decision to remove a Team Captain will be made by the SAFSA WP Committee after consultation with coaches and officials
• If a Captain steps down or is removed, a new Captain will be appointed through the same selection process
