About Singles Skating
The foundation of figure skating excellence
What is Singles Skating?
Singles skating is the most popular discipline in figure skating, where individual skaters perform jumps, spins, steps, and other intricate moves to music. It combines athletic prowess with artistic expression, requiring years of dedicated training to master.
Competition Format
Competitions consist of two segments: the short program and the free skate. Skaters must include required elements while showcasing their technical skills and artistic interpretation.
Training Requirements
Singles skaters typically train 4-6 days per week, focusing on technique, strength, flexibility, and performance skills. Off-ice training including ballet, fitness, and mental preparation are essential components of a comprehensive training program.
