ANNOUNCEMENT

1. GENERAL REGULATIONS

The "Western Province Figure Skating Championships 2026" will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2025, the ISU Special Regulations and Technical Rules for Figure Skating as well as pertinent ISU Communications.

Participation in the "Western Province Figure Skating Championships 2026" is open to all competitors who belong to the Western Province Branch of the South African Figure Skating Association (SAFSA) and are currently members in good standing. This competition serves as the provincial championships for the 2025/2026 Western Province and South African Figure Skating Season.

Deadline: Monday, 19 January 2026

Late Entries: Unfortunately, late entries will not be accepted.

Refunds: The entry fee is non-refundable.

Cost of Entry:

• R 1,000 per singles figure skater and solo dance entry
• R 1,550 per pairs figure skating and couples ice dance team
• R 5,500 per synchronised skating team

All payments are to be done via EFT. No cash deposits.

• Singles Figure Skating: Juvenile, Basic Novice, Intermediate Novice, Advanced Novice, Junior, Senior

• Singles Figure Skating: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Adult Beginner Artistic, Adult Technical Beginner, Adult Advanced Artistic, Adult Advanced Technical

• Solo Ice Dance: Bronze Open Dance, Bronze Adult Open Dance, Silver Open Dance, Silver Adult Open Dance, Gold Open Dance

• Synchronised Skating: Introductory, Bronze

Age Categories:

Age categories for the Competitive Stream are at the Organising Committee's discretion and will be based on entries received as follows:

• Bronze: Under 9, 9 to 11, 12 to 17, 18–24, 25 & over
• Silver, Gold, Platinum: Under 12, 12–17, 18–24

4. MUSIC

The skater's coach is responsible for submitting their competitor's music via the online coaches' portal. The link will be sent directly to the SAFSA registered coaches.

Deadline for Music Submission: Monday, 19 January 2026

Each submission shall be labelled with the name of the category, whether short program/rhythm dance (SP/RD) or free program/free dance (FP/FD) and the name of the competitor.

The music files must be sent as MP3 file formats. Any other format is unfortunately not acceptable.

Each Competitor must have their own back-up drive (USB Stick) for each program in the format of an MP3 file.

5. PLANNED PROGRAMME CONTENT (PPC)

The skater's coach is responsible for submitting their competitor's planned programme content as a submission on the coaches' portal. The link will be sent directly to the SAFSA registered coaches.

Deadline for PPC Submission: Monday, 19 January 2026

The planned programme content will be filled using terminology for the elements listed in the respective ISU format.

6. OFFICIAL PRACTICE

Official practice will take place Monday, 16 February 2026 to Wednesday, 18 February 2026. The final schedule for official practice will be released upon closure of entries.

7. DRAW

The draw will take place on Tuesday, 3 February. Details to follow.

Starting order for the Free Skating/Free Dance will be in reverse order of the results in the Short Program/Rhythm Dance/Pattern Dance where applicable.

8. RESULTS

All results will be calculated using the new ISU judging system.

9. AWARDS

The awards ceremony will take place at The Ice Station. The three best skaters in each category will be awarded medals.

10. SCHEDULE

The preliminary timetable of the event is as follows:

• Mornings: Monday, 16 Feb & Tuesday, 17 Feb 2026: Official Practice – Competitive & Championships streams
• Afternoons: Monday, 16 Feb & Tuesday, 17 Feb 2026: Competition – Competitive & Championships streams
• Morning: Wednesday, 18 February 2026: Official Practice – Competitive Bronze Sections
• Afternoon: Wednesday, 18 February 2026: Competition – Competitive Bronze Sections

Please be informed that changes in the event schedule may occur due to the final number of entries, and some categories can be moved to another day for proper organization.

Also, only the daily starting times are fixed. Following the morning start the time schedule of the event is flexible, which means that in case of cancellations certain categories may start some time earlier than in the Preliminary/Final Schedule.

Skaters will be required to indicate if the discipline being entered is their primary/secondary/tertiary priority of discipline. Scheduling preference will be given to entrants' primary priority of discipline in the case of a skater entering multiple disciplines.

11. SPECTATORS

Spectators are welcome to attend the event. Ticket sales will be on sale via Quicket.

• Adults: R 50 per day
• Pensioners: R 40 per day
• Under 12: R 40 per day

12. PHOTOGRAPHY

There will be an official photographer for the event taking photographs of all skaters. No other photos are permitted to be taken without approval first from the organising committee.

13. TOSSIES

"Tossies" will be allowed to be thrown on the ice after a skater has competed. A "tossie table" will be open at the venue selling items which can be thrown on the ice.

14. ENTRY AND PAYMENT CONFIRMATION

A proof of payment of the entry fee is to be submitted with the entry. Payment details are to be as follows:

Each entry requires its own payment, proof of payment and entry submission.

15. LIABILITY

In accordance with ISU Regulations, Rule 119, it is the sole responsibility of each competitor participating in the Western Province Figure Skating Championships 2026 to provide medical and accident insurance.

The Organising Committee assumes no responsibility for liability with respect to bodily or personal injury or property damage incurred in connection by the skaters, officials or any other participating persons.

All entrants, their parents and guardians and officials agree to assume all risks of injury or illness to their person and property resulting from, caused by or connected with the conduct and management of the competition and to waive and release all claims that they may have against any officials, SAFSA, the Ice Station and its volunteers and staff.

The organiser will provide medical emergency aid during the competition.

Organisers of the Western Province Figure Skating Championships 2026 are committed to the proper protection of personal data in accordance with the POPI act.

THE SAFSA STAKEHOLDER'S CONSENT IN TERMS OF THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ACT NO 4 OF 2013

1. I hereby give consent that the South African Figure Skating Association Western Province may collect, use, distribute, process, and communicate my personal information, photographs, and videos for all SAFSA activities including, but not limited to, the Western Province Figure Skating Championships 2026 being held from 16-18 February 2026 and other related communication, promotional, media and marketing activities.
2. I also consent that SAFSA may share my personal information with third parties rendering database management services on behalf of the Federation.
3. I will not hold the SAFSA responsible for any improper or unauthorized use of my personal information that is beyond the reasonable control of the SAFSA.
4. I agree to and provide my consent for sharing, storage and processing of my personal data in the manner mentioned above. To be placed on announcement, entry forms and at the entrance for public spectators.

Spectators Disclaimer

1. I hereby give consent that the organisers of the Western Province Figure Skating Championships 2026 being held from 16-18 February 2026 that as a spectator photographs, videos and live streaming will be done during the competition to promote figure skating as a sport.
2. This promotional material may be shared with a third party as the organisers, the SAFSA, skaters and family members who may post these images on and publish them on various social media platforms.
3. I have been made aware at entering the venue that there may be a possibility that as a spectator, I may be seen in the background of the photographs, videos and live streaming and I have the right to leave the venue should this make me uncomfortable.
4. I agree that by entering the venue as a spectator, I give my permission to be seen in the background of photos, videos and live streaming on any of the above-mentioned social media platforms.
5. I will not hold the SAFSA WP responsible for any improper or unauthorised use of my personal information that is beyond the reasonable control of the SAFSA WP.
